Home from India to Portland (via bus to Delhi, then by plane to Hong Kong, San Francisco, and Portland), staying with friends and family in Portland for a while.
May 30 - June 12:
Overnight trains from Varanasi to Delhi then on to Pathankot in India. From Pathankot we'll change to narrow-gague rail, and then finally to bus, to reach Dharmshala in Himchal Pradesh, where we'll stay for a couple weeks.
May 23:
Overnight train from Delhi to to Vasranasi, India.
May 14 :
We fly from Bangkok Thailand to New Dehli, India.
May 6 - 13:
Siem Reap and nearby Angkor Wat, in Cambodia
April 28 - May 5 :
Koh Tao, a small island in the gulf of Thailand.
April 16-21:
Chiang Mai, Thailand with Mary Lynne
April 2:
We leave Indonesia by bus north from Pontianak to Kuching, Malaysia, on our way to Bangkok where we'll meet Mary Lynne on the 11th.
March 25-6:
We fly back to Jakarta, and then on to Pontianak in West Kalimantan, and from there to the town of Ketapang where we'll visit a clinic run by an old friend for a little under a week, before we have to leave Indonesia to avoid overstaying our visa.
March 3:
We fly to Jakarta, Indonesia, and then on to Aceh province, on Sumatra, to volunteer on a tsunami relief program assessment, and possibly also some ethnobotany research, with a friend there.
February 14 - 26::
We leave from Kaş to continue on our hiking trail for another week or two!
February 11::
We're taking an unplanned break from our hike in some little towns on the Mediterranean, waiting out a storm system.
Jan 30-?:
We're hiking the Lycian Way along the SW coast of Turkey from Fethiye toward Antalya for 2-4 weeks.
Jan 27-30:
Fethiye, the start of our hiking trail around the Teke peninsula.
Jan 25-27:
Selcuk and the Ephesus (Efes) ruins there.
Jan 24:
Pamukkale and the Hieropolis ruins there.
Jan 23:
After 4 weeks of walking, meeting great new people, and studying Turkish with new friends in İstanbul, we left on Jan. 23 for Denizli.
December 23-24:
We're taking an overnight train Sunday-Monday to Istanbul, and staying at Coskun Pension for a couple nights. After Christmas, we have a Servas host lined up for a few days, and another for after 1/1
December 16:
We're back in Bucuresti, where we'll stay for a few days before we leave for Turkey.
December 8-16:
We're in Holland. We're flying a group of 5 Romanian street dogs there for an Italian NGO, for adoptive placements through a Dutch NGO. Funny, eh?
December 6:
We took a day trip to Ruse, Bulgaria with some friends.
October and November:
We hung out in Bucharest with a puppy we found on the street, injured by a passing car.
October 5-7:
We're traveling with Liviu to Costinesti and Neptune, small towns on the Black Sea coast of Romania.
October 2: we'll return to Romania, where we hope to help with the grape harvest in a friend's village south of Bucharest, then return to Campulung Moldevenesc for some volunteer work and travel in northern Romania (before it gets too, too cold).
September 28 to Oct. 2:
Return to Toulouse, likely via Auch and Carcasonne
September 19-27:
Hike into the upper Pyrenees from Hendaye to St Jean Pied de Port, and into Spain to Roncesvalles
September 16-18:
Pause for provisions on the coast, at Hendaye
September 9 to 16:
We walk from Monrejeau to Uzer, through the lower cental Pyrenees, to get our hiking legs back and explore some special places.
September 2 to 8:
Allen has some work in southern France, in Gers.
September 2 to 5: a client has asked Allen to join them at a meeting near Toulouse, in southern France, and we've accepted.

July 7-Aug 21, 2006: Brita's studying in Morelia, Mexico; Allen remains in Portland to work on the house and wrap up a consulting project
